Camp Two Hearted sits on ten wooded acres above the Two Hearted River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The main cabin and separate bunkhouse are booked together, giving your group the whole camp.
Fish, paddle, explore the trails, or head for the Lake Superior shoreline. Back at camp, there’s a screened porch, a wood-fired sauna, an outdoor fire pit, and room to gather. This is a rustic, off-grid stay with practical comforts and a river view.

Wood-fired sauna
A private sauna heated by a wood stove. Allow time to build and maintain the fire; follow the guest instructions.
Indoor camp kitchen
Propane stove, refrigerator, dishes, cookware, and utensils in the main cabin. Bring drinking and cooking water.
Seasonal outdoor kitchen
An outdoor cooking and wash area, with a river-fed non-potable water system during the warmer months.
Seasonal shower
The completed outdoor shower room is available in warmer weather. Ask the hosts about seasonal operation.
Kayaks & canoe
Guest boats and paddles are kept at camp. Confirm the current equipment and your paddling plans with the hosts.
Wood stove & propane heat
A wood-burning stove in the main cabin and propane wall heat in both buildings. Arrival and departure instructions are provided.
Fire pit & picnic table
An outdoor fire pit and space to share meals. Follow current fire restrictions and fully extinguish fires.
Solar & generator power
Off-grid power for basic lighting and limited charging, supported by a generator when needed.

ON THE TWO HEARTED RIVER
A Wilderness River.
Right below camp.
The Two Hearted is a state-designated Wilderness River. Its main stream winds through northern Luce County to Lake Superior, with forested banks and a long history of trout fishing and paddling.
Camp has 300 feet of private frontage. The cabin sits roughly 65–70 feet above the water, with a broad view of the river valley and a steep path down to the bank.
The path is steep and river conditions vary. Ask us about access and paddling plans before your stay.
AROUND CAMP
Lake Superior
& beyond.
The shoreline is just over a mile away as the crow flies. Road and trail routes take longer, and some require an ORV. We can help you plan around your vehicle and the season.
Lake Superior & rockhounding
Explore the shoreline near the mouth of the Two Hearted and Muskallonge Lake. Agates and after-dark Yooperlite hunts are part of camp’s own story.
Fishing & paddling
Fish the Two Hearted or plan a river trip from the Reed and Green Bridge. Water levels, fallen trees, and your group’s experience determine the right route.
ORV & snowmobile trails
Use camp as a base for the region’s trail network. Bring offline maps and check current routes, conditions, and permissions before riding.
Hiking & forest time
Explore the surrounding state forest and the region’s North Country Trail routes. Respect private land and keep track of your route.
Upper Peninsula day trips
Plan a day out to Tahquamenon Falls, Crisp Point, Grand Marais, or Pictured Rocks. These are regional trips, with travel time depending on roads and season.
Supplies & local stops
Stock up in Newberry before the remote drive. Pine Stump Junction and Deer Park are useful local stops; seasonal hours and services vary.

What does a booking include?+
The main cabin, separate bunkhouse, and private camp grounds are rented together for one group. The main cabin has two semi-private queen sleeping rooms with curtain doors, a loft with two twin beds, and a queen air mattress. The bunkhouse has four queen beds arranged as bunks and its own living area. For more than 16 guests, contact the hosts before making plans.
What are the water, power, and restroom arrangements?+
The cabins have no indoor running water. Bring water for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes. The seasonal outdoor shower and sink use non-potable river water. The restroom is a rustic outhouse. Power comes from a limited solar and battery system with generator support, so guests need to be comfortable following the camp instructions.
How do we get to camp, including in winter?+
Camp is near Newberry and the Reed and Green Bridge on a seasonal road. AWD or 4x4 is strongly recommended. Winter drive-in access is not guaranteed, and snowmobiles may be required. Road and trail conditions change with the weather; agree on your access and parking plan with the hosts before booking. Lake Superior is roughly a mile away as the crow flies, rather than a one-mile road trip.
Is the river easy to access?+
The main cabin sits roughly 65–70 feet above the Two Hearted River. A steep, rustic path with a support rope leads to the private frontage. It may not be suitable for everyone. Supervise children closely and discuss access needs with the hosts before booking. River conditions and fallen trees can affect paddling routes.
What should we pack and download?+
Bring ample food and water, warm layers, a flashlight or headlamp, personal first-aid supplies, insect repellent, and the supplies you need for your activities. Confirm bedding needs with the hosts. Cell reception is limited and unreliable, so download the guest manual, directions, and offline trail maps before leaving town. Stock up on fuel and essentials before the remote part of the drive.
Can we use the sauna and boats?+
The wood-fired sauna, kayaks, and canoe are part of camp. Check current availability and equipment with the hosts, and use the detailed guest instructions. The sauna takes advance preparation, and the river path is steep. Plan a paddling route for the current conditions and your group’s experience.
What should we do before leaving?+
Because of the remote location, there are no cleaners between guests. Leave camp as you found it: clean the kitchen and dishes, sweep floors, pack out all trash, and tidy the grounds. Keep food and trash secure during your stay. Follow the guest manual for shutting down heat and power and extinguishing fires before departure.
How do direct booking and payments work?+
Choose dates and submit a request. Your hosts review availability and the stay details before approval. Applicable taxes, cancellation terms, and payment arrangements are confirmed before you pay. A request alone does not reserve dates.
